Marco Rizzi is a freelance dance artist based in Berlin, working as a performer, teacher, and choreographer across Europe.

His artistic practices and research focus on themes that pique the interest of both himself and the team involved.

The uniqueness of his choreographic works and research takes shape through collaborations with other artists with a strong emphasis on creating visually and aesthetically captivating experiences for the audience.

Marco received his dance education while also joining the Giovane Balletto Mediterraneo in Italy.

With a background in Latin Ballroom Dance Studies and competition, he graduated from Codarts, The Netherlands, in 2015 with a B.A after an internship at the Tanz Luzerner Theater, in Switzerland.

He danced with Holstebro Dance Company in Denmark, touring, performing and conducting workshops in Sweden, Finland, Hungary, China, South Korea, South Africa, Rwanda, Tanzania, Cyprus, Germany and England.

 

In 2020, he received two nominations from CPH Culture among other artists.

He has worked and performed creations by: Regina van Berkel, Club Guy&Roni, Jiri Kylian, Jan Martens, Samir Calixto, Nacho Duato, Mauro de Candia, Sandra Marìn Garcia, Fernando Melo, La Fura dels Baus, Fotis Nikolaou, Mari Carrasco, Melody Putu, Thomas Bentin, Stephanie Thomasen, Alexander Michael, Tina Tarpgaard, Jason Mabana, Alessandro Perreira, Marie Brolin-Tani, Tim Rushton, Jung In Lee, Ben Wright. Xenia Wiest, Dagada Dance Company, Panorama Dance Theater, Lunapark. works, Kosmas Kosmopoulos, Anibal dos Santos, Eduardo Vallejo Pinto, Tommy Cattin, Hyunju Sim, I Jung Lim, Gizem Aksu and Bobbi Lo Production.

 

He has experience teaching dance classes and workshops to students, beginners, and professional dancers. His choreographic works have been supported by residencies and showcased in various theaters, venues, and festivals including Suepol in Luzern by TLT, at the Kunstal Museum and at De Gouvernestraat in Rotterdam, at the Korzo Theatre in Den Haag, ApuliArte Festival, Cortoindanza IX, LOT - Theater eV in Braunschweig, POOL - Raum für Kultur in St. Gallen, ThiK - Theater am Kornhaus Baden, Mensch Meier GmbH and Uferstudios in Berlin.

 

He has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, exploring various creations in institutional and freelance settings.
